Clean Doggie

Well, Cali had her first visit to the dog park. She did SO good w/ the other doggies, she made her mama proud. But of course a visit to the park = dirty doggie. So when I came home I washed her in some Aveda sample shampoo I had. Now she smells so delicious and feels so soft I can't keep away from her.

Fashion Craving

It seems like I can never find THE black boot that I am looking for. I have several, but none give me that feeling like I NEED to be wearing them all fall/winter long. I even have some in all different heights. I LOVE my ankle booties, which I actually just got from Target. These ones I picture wearing with thick tights:

I also have ankle boots/booties that I LOVE from BCBG... will show those later.
BUT I NEED high boots!!! calf or knee length. Aren't they essential to any wardrobe? Well here are my latest obesssion: Michael Antonio's Makeo Boot. What do you think? Are these THE BOOTS?

Sweetness

My little rascal has been so sweet this weekend. I have guilty thoughts when I'm annoyed with her of giving her away (obviously I am not going to do that). But she has finally begun to snuggle. I think during the week, she's so starved for attention that when I get home she goes crazy and is super hyper from laying around all day. But this weekend, with enough attention, she's been just laying around me. Now if we could only get the itchies under control.

Rain

It's tough to get Cali enough exercise, especially in the rain. Today has been torrential downpours all day. I just tried to take her out (which involves going down 2 stories and outside) but she wasn't having it. Then she peed in the hall. Yes, I cleaned it up, unlike some others who leave their dogs' pee in the stairwell.

My bf says I am not disciplining her. I think it's lack of exercise... I am not sure how to get her energy out when it's raining. Any suggestions?

Exhaustion

That is what this puppy does to me. Seriously, I am so friggin tired. I am worried that I'll never ever be able to have children b/c I'm pooped just with her.

Cali has demodex mange. I am soooo mad at the Humane Society b/c they knew about it and somehow "forgot" to mention it on her medical papers. They said they "treated" it but a week or so after I got her, I noticed that her fur was falling out, especially around the eyes. Then she started losing fur all over, especially her face, head and legs. I took her to my vet who diagnosed her and started treating her with ivermectin. I just hope it works...

Here is what she looked like when I first got her:

Then after a little while she looked like this (all the white is really baldness):

Poor baby Cali. Now the mites make her so itchy that she is also on a steroid every other day.

And I am sleepy.

Poor Monkey

He never saw it coming.
But Cali can be a monster.
She swung him and chewed him and squeaked his tummy till his guts spilled out.
Then she ate his eyes.

Introductions

Hello.
I am Kristy.
This is a picture of me:
I just finished grad school and got my Ph.D. in clinical psychology.
I work with Veterans at a VA hospital.
I like autumn, diet Coke, cheesecake, fashion, coffee, books & bookstores, surfing, traveling, Real Simple magazine, and puppies, among other things.

This is Cali:

She is almost 16 weeks old.
She is a mutt; I think hound, beagle, terrier, lab... who knows.
She likes treats, playing, hiding under beds, ice cubes, and bellyrubs.
She's very cute, but she's also a sneaky monkey.
I got her from the Humane Society on August 1, 2009. (more on that later).

This blog will document our adventures, both separately and together.
I hope you enjoy.
